As roofs age, insurers may ask for more condition information or an inspection. Under applicable Florida law, certain homeowners with roofs at least 15 years old may be able to provide an inspection by an authorized inspector rather than replace the roof solely because of age. Requirements, policy language and underwriting decisions vary.
Review Florida Statutes § 627.7011 ↗SOS does not guarantee coverage, renewal, premium savings, an insurer’s acceptance of a document or a roof’s remaining useful life. Ask your insurer or licensed agent what your policy requires.

Notify SOS after wind, hail, fallen limbs, impact or other events.

Third-party-backed options are not included unless specifically identified in final written warranty documents. Those documents must identify the provider, covered obligations, limits and conditions.
For a roof at least 15 years old, Florida law may allow a homeowner to provide an inspection from an authorized inspector approved by the insurer before replacement is required solely because of roof age. The inspection is generally obtained at the homeowner’s expense. Other underwriting, condition, policy or eligibility requirements may still apply, and SOS cannot guarantee coverage, renewal, premium savings or insurer acceptance.
Some manufacturer or workmanship warranties may be transferable when the written terms allow it. Transfer deadlines, fees, notice requirements and eligibility vary, so review the applicable documents before a sale or transfer.
