A roof is more than the visible shingles or panels. The Coastal Shield Roofing System is SOS Construction & Roofing’s way of organizing the installation conversation around water management, approved materials, job oversight, documentation and the ongoing maintenance record.
What the system is designed to organize
The exact assembly depends on the property and written scope, but the framework encourages a closer look at underlayment, flashing, valleys, edges, penetrations, ventilation, fastening, cleanup, photographs and final documentation. The purpose is to make the important details visible before the project is approved and easier to discuss after the work is complete.
A shingle roof, metal roof, low-slope roof and commercial TPO roof do not receive identical materials or installation methods. The written proposal controls the actual project.
Coastal Shield is not an insurance product
Coastal Shield is not homeowners insurance, a home warranty, indemnity, an open-ended repair promise or a guarantee of insurability. It does not promise premium savings, insurer acceptance or coverage for every storm, impact, defect, maintenance issue or future condition.
That distinction matters because a contractor-led maintenance and documentation program serves a different purpose from an insurance policy. Homeowners should keep the actual written warranty, plan and insurance documents together and read each one for its own terms.

The maintenance record is part of the value
A roof record can include the installation scope, photographs, product information, inspection dates, maintenance conversations, repairs and recommended actions. When a property changes owners, a clearer record can help the next person understand what was done and what should happen next.
Transferability is never assumed. If the written documents permit transfer, deadlines, fees, notice, inspection and maintenance requirements apply. A new owner may need to opt into the applicable plan.
Annual inspection and eligible extended coverage
The standard SOS workmanship warranty is five years. Under the current Coastal Shield structure, an active qualifying Home Maintenance Plan may make up to 20 additional years available, for up to 25 years total, only while the written eligibility requirements remain satisfied. Annual roof and whole-property reviews may be required for renewal and continuation.
Completing an inspection does not create coverage by itself. The final written warranty and maintenance-plan documents control eligibility, exclusions, repairs, transfer and available term.
Coverage depends on the written documents; the roof warranty guide explains the manufacturer and SOS workmanship terms.
Ask for the actual scope
If you are considering the system, ask what materials, details and documentation are included in your project. Ask what is excluded, how concealed conditions are handled and what annual maintenance requires. That is how a homeowner can evaluate the system without relying on a slogan.
SOS can explain the framework, prepare a property-specific estimate and connect the installation to the inspection and maintenance paths available for the project.
- Review the roof assembly and product choices.
- Ask how water-management details are handled.
- Keep photographs and closeout documents.
- Understand annual inspection requirements.
- Read the final written terms before relying on a warranty statement.
